OUR STORY
Celebrating over 100 years of automotive passion...
In the landmark year of 1920, when the Government established the Road Act which made driving licenses and third-party insurance mandatory, a group of young pioneers (including the enterprising Jack Barclay, who would go on to found a Fiat dealership in London) took to the racetrack with the Fiat 501. Recognizing the potential of the FIAT brand, the Fiat 500 Club was formed in June 1922, coinciding with Fiat's announcement of the upcoming series, and proudly affiliated with the RAC. Although the club's activities were paused during WW2, it's legacy remained strong.
In 1948 the visionary Jimmy James reignited the club's spirit by launching a new Fiat 500 Club, laying the groundwork for what we now proudly know as the Fiat Motor Club [GB]. As Fiat introduced the 600 series, the club adapted and became the Fiat 500-600 Club.
With the arrival of the 1100 and 1200 series, a decisive general meeting on February 28th 1963 led to the adoption of the club's current name, embracing all Fiat models—past and present.
The Fiat Motor [GB] stands as a testament to our commitment to celebrating the rich heritage enduring appeal of FIAT vehicles across generations.
Our club is a member of the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs which exists to uphold the freedom to use historic vehicles on the road. It does this by representing the interests of owners of such vehicles to politicians, government officials, and legislators both in the UK and (through the Federation Internationale des Vehicles Anciens) in Europe. We are one of over 540 subscriber organisations representing a total membership of over 25,000 in addition to individual and trade supporters.
Future Carbon Capture is the term given to carbon sequestering by the planting of new woodland, here in the UK. The new trees will gradually, over the lifetime of the project, remove a certified volume of CO2 from the atmosphere. This volume can be used to balance out emissions. Working together the FBHVC and TreeV have established a carbon capture scheme and have been planting trees in Tom’s Wood in North Yorkshire since 2021. The trees are maintained and protected and the carbon captured can be accurately tracked. They also have benefits for wildlife.
The Fiat Motor Club (GB) signed up to the scheme in 2023 and carbon balances the stands it has at the NEC motor shows.
